Abstract

Students English textbook, like other types of textbook, is used a standard work on basis of instruction in any branch of knowledge. The student’s EFL textbooks is important thing that conveyed the message of moral education based on competence in curriculum 2013 that becomes the main parts in strengthening moral of education. The research attempts to describe the moral values in student’s English book at the first grade students of senior high school. The source of the data is students’ English book published by Intan pariwara. The researcher did several steps of extracting the data commencing through reading the whole textbook carefully, categorizing the various moral values by highlighting statements or activities which are considered as moral values, to making tables based on the specifications of moral values. The findings reveal that there are several moral values presented explicitly by the students’ English book. The result of this study is: 1. There are 13 moral values found in this EFL textbook, namely honesty, discipline, hardworking, creativeness, independence, curiosity, love homeland, rewarding achievement, friendly/ communicative, joy of reading, environmental care, social care and responsibility. There are some moral values not found in this book, such as: religiosity, tolerance, democratic, spirit of nationally, and love peace. 2. There are moral values in the Interactive English book by Intan Pariwara which are presented through the tittle of the chapter, objective chapter, quotes, pictures, exercise instruction, and example of sentence.
