Abstract

This research was motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic which caused the education system in Indonesia to be replaced with online learning. The purpose of this study is to answer several problems that have been formulated by the researcher, namely the media used by the lecturer to teach listening amidst covid-19 outbreak at IAIN Kudus, the advantages and disadvantages of employing technology-based learning amidst covid-19 outbreak at IAIN Kudus and the challenges faced by the lecturer in teaching listening using TBL amidst covid-19 outbreak at IAIN Kudus. In this study, the researchers used a qualitative approach. This research was carried out at Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kudus where there was an implementation of technology-based learning to teach listening during the Covid-19 pandemic. The data sources in the researcher's research were obtained from primary data, in the form of data information obtained directly from various parties related to research problems. The next is secondary data in the form of data on books and journals related to the object of study, as well as official documentation from research results. Some techniques used in the data collection process are observation questionnaires and documentation. The data is then tested for validity through triangulation through the source and triangulation method. In this study, the data that has been obtained by the researcher is then analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data display, dan conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that employing technology-based learning to enhance students' listening skills amidst the covid-19 outbreak at IAIN Kudus is using some media such as Whatsapp, Google Meet, and VClass. There are several advantages of technology-based learning used by the lecturer to teach listening amidst the covid-19 outbreak at IAIN Kudus. First, technology-based learning is saving more time, second, technology-based learning is a simple learning model, third, students are being able to learn more independently. While the disadvantage is lecturer could not meet students directly so the lecturer could not know well about the students’ characteristics.
