Abstract

This research investigates the use of the English Singsing YouTube Channel and Scrapbook as learning media to overcome student boredom in learning English caused by difficulties in understanding vocabulary and pronunciation. The objectives of this study are as follows: 1) to find out how English Singsing YouTube Channel and Scrapbook can be implemented as learning media; 2) to find out the supporting factors and obstacles in the implementation of the English Singsing YouTube Channel and Scrapbook as learning media. 3) to find out the students’ perceptions toward the use of the English Singsing YouTube channel and Scrapbook as learning media. This research is qualitative, and data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants of the research included a teacher, four female students, and four male students selected through purposive sampling technique. The results showed that 1) the implementation of the English Singsing YouTube Channel and Scrapbook was conducted by showing the entire video to provide an overview through active viewing techniques. Subsequent playback focused on vocabulary and pronunciation through imitation and repetition techniques. At the same time, Scrapbook was used as a medium for recording vocabulary. 2) Supporting factors in the application of this media include students’ enthusiasm for technology, the accessibility of learning facilities, material sources, and learning media. The obstacles include the internet connection instability and the complicated Scrapbook material design.3) Based on students’ perceptions, it shows that the English Singsing YouTube channel and Scrapbook have a positive impact, including increasing enthusiasm and motivation to learn, creating interactive and creative learning, facilitating students' understanding of the material, facilitating students in practicing pronunciation, and helping students remember vocabulary easily. Furthermore, the implementation of the English Singsing YouTube Channel and Scrapbook contributes to creating higher quality English learning and reducing boredom during learning. Therefore, teachers need to continue to develop skills and insights regarding up-to-date learning media, both digital and conventional
