Abstract

Learning vocabulary is one of the important factors in all language teaching, students must keep learning word as they learn structure and as they practice sound system. Based on the author’s observation in MI Al-Manar Sedan, student has low interest in the classroom, such as being inactive in class and not participating in learning activities, being easily distracted by things outside of learning, frequently absent or late to school and class. This issue must be addressed immediately so that student interest in learning can be maintained and learning goals can be achieved. Using engaging learning media is a solution that can enhance students' learning interest. Starting from those above phenomena the writer in this particular writing inteds to investigate “The Effectiveness Of Using Flash Cards In Teaching Vocabulary For The Five Grade Of Elementary School in MI Al-Manar Sedan. In this research, the writer use a quantitative research. The population of the research is the students at MI Al-Manar Sedan. The writer used saturation sampling technique. Sample of this research was the entire fifth grade, namely 30 students. Based on the data, it is evident that the mean pretest score is 60.17, while the mean posttest score is 77.87. This indicates a mean difference of -17.66. This signifies that the average score for fifth-grade students at MI Al-Manar Sedan increased by 17.66 points after implementing vocabulary learning using flashcards. To ascertain the significance of this change, we examine the significance level (sig) in the table above, which is found to be 0.000. This value suggests that vocabulary learning with flashcards has been proven to significantly improve students' vocabulary. The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, the use of Flash Card is effective in teaching vocabulary in the five grade of of MI Al-Manar Sedan
