Abstract

Seeing the current condition of students in Indonesia is very concerning, where there are still many students who commit academic dishonesty, such as cheating, unauthorized collaboration, and plagiarism. Students commit academic dishonesty such as cheating for various reasons, such as peer pressure, lack of readiness, unrealistic expectations, and an emphasis on success. One of the causes of this problem is the lack of integrity that students have. They do something unfair to gain academic advantage and begin to ignore integrity in themselves. Textbooks as teaching materials and tools should carry character education values that can be applied in everyday life. Textbooks as the main tool in the learning process are not only expected to convey knowledge, but also as a medium for conveying universal values and other specificities. Especially the value of integrity character education. This research aims to obtain an in-depth description of the value of integrity character education depicted in the Indonesian junior high school EFL textbook 2013 curriculum published by Ministry of Education and Culture. Critical discourse analysis method is used in this research. The CDA method is most suitable for use in this research because CDA is used to reveal and investigate the language used to reflect ideology, identity and social relations constructed through discourse. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. The subject of this research is an Indonesian junior high school EFL textbook 2013 curriculum published by Ministry of Education and Culture. The results showed that the Indonesian junior high school EFL textbook 2013 curriculum published by the Ministry of Education and Culture has integrated the values of integrity. This research found that the value of integrity is represented through the attitudes and behavior of characters in the form of illustrations contained in textbooks.
