Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of picture series on the ability to write recount texts in eighth grade students of MTs Islamiyah Nirwana OKU Timur. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental one class pre-test post-test. The object of research was conducted in one research class totaling 23 students. The instrument used in this study was a writing test. The writer gave a writing test in pre-test and post-test. The data collection technique used is quantitative data with t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of picture series on students' ability to write the recount text. It can be seen from the calculation results that the average score of the students during the pre-test was 59.26, while the average post-test score was 69.47. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis is proven which states that there is a significant difference between students' scores in writing recount texts before and after being given a series of pictures in class VIII MTs Islamiyah Nirwana OKU Timur.
