Abstract

The research was conducted based on preliminary research, namely the lack of students' vocabulary mastery in English and the teacher's method was not being active in learning process. Implementation of snowball throwing makes the learning process more active. The purpose of this research was to examine whether there was a significant difference between students who are taught by using Snowball Throwing method and who are not taught by using Snowball Throwing method at the eighth grade of MTs Mazro’atul Huda Wonorenggo Demak. The research design of this study was quasi-experimental design. The researcher used two classes as experimental and control classes. The researcher used cluster random technique sampling to determine the sample. The population was 59 students of the eighth grade. The total sample was 40 students were taken from two classes, VIII A and VIII B. The researcher used independent t-test, which aimed to compare the data from two different classes by using the t-test, formula in SPSS 25. Based on the analysis of the data and the testing of hypothesis, the researcher found the result that Mean score in the experimental class was 77, 75, and score in the control class was 73, 25. It showed that the experimental class has higher score than the control class. The result of t test was Sig. (2-tailed) =0,019 < 0, 05, it means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. So there is a significant effect in using snowball throwing method to improve student’s vocabulary mastery in the theme daily routines at MTs Mazro’atul Huda Wonorenggo Demak.
