Abstract
This thesis discusses The Implementation of Islamic Learning Materials in Developing Islamic values on English Learning at the eighth Grade A of an Indonesian Islamic Junior High School. Researcher is interested in researching this title because of the rise of problems such as juvenile delinquency, bullying, and the introduction of western culture. These problems are solved by applying Islamic learning materials in English learning. Islamic learning materials make students interested in English learning, motivating students not only to be good at academics but also to have good Islamic character. The aims of this study were: (1) To explain the application of Islamic learning materials in developing Islamic values in learning English in class VIII A. (2) To find out the obstacles found. (3) To provide solutions to overcome these obstacles. This study used field research, namely the researcher went directly to MTs. Researcher used a qualitative approach to analyze the data. Data collection is done by means of observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were headmaster, English teacher as well as curriculum section, and eighth grade A students. The results showed that (1) in applying Islamic learning materials, learning are carried out in three stages, namely, first, the planning stage includes the preparation of lesson plans and media preparation. Second, at the practical stage, there are opening activities, core activities, and closing activities. In the opening activity, the teacher enters the class to say greeting, praying and muroja’ah Al-Qur’an together, the teacher checks the students’subuh prayers and student attendance, the students saying Basmalah, then the teacher prepared media. Furthermore, the core activities of applying Islamic learning materials are carried out by inserting Islamic values using Islamic names and mixing Islamic-specific expressions into English material. The last activity is the closing, namely the teacher conveys the activities that will be carried out tomorrow, prays, saying Hamdalah and greetings. Third, the evaluation stage is carried out last after the teaching and learning activities are finished. With the application of Islamic learning materials in English learning, students become more interested and motivated to be good, not only good in academics, but also have good Islamic character. (2) There are obstacles to applying Islamic learning materials, namely differences in student character, teaching materials English is more westernized, there is a lack of English books that apply Islamic learning materials, and the lack of vocabulary mastered by students. (3) There is a solution to overcome these obstacles, namely carrying out character education. The teacher incorporates Islamic values into English material. The creative teacher uses Islamic names and mixes typical Islamic expressions with English expressions. The teacher helps students to translate and students open a dictionary.
