Abstract

Learning media is an important component in supporting learning. SDIT Umar Bin Khatab, Pekuwon uses paper puppets to support learning so that it runs well, especially in learning English in vocabulary development. Therefore, researcher are looking for how to implement paper puppets, supporting and inhibiting factors as well as solutions to inhibiting factors for the application of paper puppets as media for developing vocabulary in class III SDIT Umar Bin Khatab Pekuwon, Juwana. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This study used the case study method and data collection techniques using observation, in-depth interviews, documentation and supporting data such as lesson plans. This study reveals that the application of paper puppets as a media for developing English vocabulary based on the teacher and student's perspectives is beneficial. The results of this study are increased enthusiasm for learning, easily obtainable materials, easy and simple application of media, learning becomes conducive to fun, and the ability to remember vocabulary becomes faster and more precise. However, they still face various challenges such as low ability to think creatively, lack of understanding of media applications, lack of variety of characters and media conditions those easily damaged or torn, faded colors, lack of color and that can reduce students' interest in learning. Some of the efforts made by the teacher to overcome this are the teacher practicing creative thinking, choosing the type of paper, practicing improvisation and knowing techniques for using media, adding variations of characters and colors to the media.
