Abstract
Teaching and Learning vocabulary acquisition in Indonesia have been a key focus in recent years, with initiatives aimed at improving language proficiency among citizens and increasing access to English learning materials and opportunities. Among them, teachers often use learning media, one of which is Duolingo. The aim of this study is to analyze existing research articles and journals from 2017 to 2022 to determine the overall effects of Duolingo on vocabulary acquisition and to identify best practices and recommendations for optimizing vocabulary learning using Duolingo among Indonesian learners. The Study used Qualitative Meta-Analysis involved systematically reviewing and synthesizing multiple studies on learning vocabulary using Duolingo in Indonesia. Data collection techniques included the use of specific keywords to search for relevant articles and journals published between 2017 and 2022. The findings revealed that using the Duolingo app for English vocabulary learning in Indonesia has generally had a positive effect on vocabulary acquisition across various populations. The app was found to enhance vocabulary mastery, improve language learning outcomes, and boost student motivation. While Duolingo was recognized as a valuable tool for language instruction, considerations such as internet connectivity and data affordability were noted as potential limitations. Furthermore, The Best Practices and Recommendations for optimizing vocabulary learning by using Duolingo among Indonesian Learners based on Journal Articles published between 2017 to 2022 is the Implementation of the Autonomous Learning Model assisted by the Application. Overall, the research indicates that Duolingo can be valuable tool for vocabulary learning, but further investigation is needed to address potential limitations and long-term retention of vocabulary.
