Abstract
English proficiency is crucial in the development of technology. Effective communication is essential, making it necessary to provide support to students who struggle with English. This can result in passivity during the learning process. To address this issue, short Islamic animated films were utilized in eighth grade at Islamic Junior High School to help enhance students' speaking activeness in the English learning process. The purpose of this study is to identify students' speaking activeness in English learning and analyze the use of Islamic Short Animated Film in enhancing students' speaking activeness. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study research design. This research took place at Islamic Junior High School. Subjects in this study were students of eighth grade at Islamic Junior High School. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. Researcher conducted observations of students' speaking activeness in class when learning using Short Islamic Animated Film media and conducted interviews with the main research subjects, namely students from eighth grade at Islamic Junior High School. The study showed that students' activeness in learning English at Islamic Junior High School, the majority of students encounter difficulties in speaking activeness. This research indicated that the level of student activeness in the learning process varies depending on the student's understanding of the material presented. On average, students are still passive when it comes to speaking, therefore there must be new breakthroughs from teacher to provide understanding and feedback. This help students respond to the explanation given, which will in turn help them generate activity. The objective is to gradually train students to speaking English and reduce their shyness and passiveness, thereby encouraging active activeness. By incorporating an Islamic-based animated film with the title "The Story of Prophet Ayup (AS)" and displaying the text in the film, it can facilitate students' comprehension and also stimulate their interest in continuing their learning journey. Apart from presenting films that are both active and aligned with the material to be taught, it undoubtedly attracts students to prioritize their attention to learning. Students are readily attentive to the text in the animation, which contains material taught using the model of watching a stop-and-go animated film, whereby students watch while learning. This research also demonstrates the efficacy of short Islamic animated films in enhancing students' speaking activeness. This is evidenced by the students' active response to their teacher's questions regarding the material presented in the animated film. The utilization of animated films by educators can markedly enhance student activeness by cultivating motivation and fostering a sense of curiosity among students regarding the material presented in animated films
