Abstract
Character education is always present in every student. For this reason, an educator needs to know what characters are contained in each student. Especially during the current Covid 19 pandemic, there must be a change in the character of students. A Textbook is one of the tools or media that is still widely used and popular. In this case, the textbook is used as a media that can be integrated into character education. This research is discussed about an analysis of character education and integration on English textbook for the twelfth grade of the senior high school published by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the year 2018, entitled Bahasa Inggris. This research aims to describe character education presented in the textbook and describe the integration. This research used a qualitative research method by using content analysis. The subject of this research is a textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris used for the analysis process that has been mentioned in the previous paragraph. Data collection was done by using documentation from the textbook. In this research, the researcher analyzes data through the following steps: utilizing, sampling, recording/coding, reducing, inferring, and narrating. These steps follow the procedure that has been expressed by Klaus Krippendorff. In analyzing character education, the researcher uses an explanation of every character education from Dimiar Ariesinta. While for the integration of character education, follow the procedure from Zuchdi. In its integration mentioned 2 techniques namely directly and indirectly. The findings of this research show that from 18 character education, the researcher was found only 16 characters in the textbook namely in the texts, pictures, task instructions, and exercises from this textbook. The most commonly found are friendliness/communication character, which is 16 data. In the findings of integration, the researcher found 46 data for indirectly techniques, while 35 data for directly techniques.
