Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the students' perceptions of face to face and online English learning in class X-XII in Kudus. This research was conducted at MU. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects in this study were students of class X-XII of MU. In data collection researcher used interview, questionnaire, and documentation. The result of this research: Students’ perceptions at MU towards face to face English learning is a positive perception. With face to face English learning, students can return to school and interact with friends, can directly receive learning from the teacher, and can discuss related learning studied. Thus, making the learning process more fun and meaningful for MU students. The learning delivered by the teacher is easier to understand because the teacher explains directly not only giving assignments so that face to face learning is the right solution to the problems faced by students during online learning. Students’ perceptions of online learning at MU is good category. Online learning is one of the learning solutions during the covid-19 pandemic. With the online learning method, students will hone skills, creativity, and knowledge that were previously unknown. In addition, online learning makes students use media in online English learning so that students can be creative according to their abilities, and make students think critically. However, students’ do not like online learning because online learning has many obstacles such as running out of quota, difficult signals, lots of assignments, students do not understand the material.
