Abstract
Speaking is considered the most commonly induced performance anxiety in college students. Speaking has always been considered one of the most important skills that English learners should acquire through conversation practice. Acquiring speaking skills is a priority for both language learners and foreign language learners. This paper objectives at analyzing Indonesian Islamic university students’ speaking anxiety. This study aims to find out the Indonesian Islamic university students’ perceptions of speaking English anxiety. The researcher also to identify the factors that make Indonesian Islamic university students anxious while speaking English. The research subjects for this study were the students of an Indonesian Islamic university. This look at is designed as a mixed method that combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies. the character of this approach is that it involves multiple realities which are classifiable, observable and the result of that means creation. The reason of this observe is to decide the level and become aware of the factors of students’ speaking anxiety. The researcher used a combined method to get the records intensive. On this section, the writer become discussing the end result of the questionnaire and interview. The extent of students’ talking tension primarily based on 33 objects of declaration in the FLCAS questionnaire, there have been sorts of responses from all individuals. The researcher observed out that 36 students have exceptional degrees of tension in speaking abilties. There had been 16 college students who experienced an “anxious” stage. 17 college students skilled a “Mildly anxious” stage. there has been only 2 scholar who had a “relaxed” and 1 student who experienced “Very relaxed” stage. The researcher observed that there have been no participants who're within the “Very anxious” level on this research. There are three elements that make a contribution to speaking anxiety. the first is communication apprehension, the 27th factor has 5 participants who agree (13,9%) and the 29th has 3 contributors who agree (8,3%). the second is fear of negative evaluation: factor 3 has 8 contributors who agree (22,2%), factor 20 has 3 contributors (8,3%), factor 31 has 8 participants (22,2%), and factor 33 has 2 contributors (5,6%). The third become test anxiety: percent accomplishing 25% points 21 have 9 participants
