Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the influence of the Audio-Lingual Method on students' speaking results. This type of research is group contrast meta-analysis because the data used is data from comparisons of treatment in the experimental and control groups. The instrument used is an article coding sheet which contains the data needed to carry out meta-analysis in the form of mean data, number of samples and standard deviation from the experimental and control groups. The data is obtained from the results of scientific research publications in thesis, journal and articles that have been published in the period 2012-2022 and used English. The findings of the study revealed that overall the studies carried out were influential and effective on the speaking results of the students with a summary Effect value of 1,449 which showed there was a significant positive influence in the use of Audio-Lingual Method to improve speaking ability of students, because based on the Effect Size category set by Cohen 'd belongs to the category of large effects. The Audio-Lingual Method also has a positive influence on moderator variables in terms of region, level of education and application of learning to improve Speaking, Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Fluency and Accuracy skills. Other meta-analysis results are bias publication test results that show the final results of non-indicated meta-analytics of bias published proven with the results of Funnel Plot, Egger Test, File-Safe N results and Trim and Fill Analysis. So the conclusion in this study is that the use of the Audio-Lingual Method is more effective in improving the speaking skills of students compared to conventional learning models.
